"The Bravest Princess"
Every now and then I get asked to make a cake that makes me grin from ear to ear, this was definitely one of those. Merida from Brave is by far my favourite Disney Princess and is so often overlooked when it comes to princess cakes. I love her strong, independent and stubborn streak, and of course the red hair!
This version of Merida is made from sugarpaste in a cute chibi style, and she's complete with bow, a quiver of arrows, and of course masses of red curls. The cake itself is decorated with a misty woodland scene created with dusting powders and sugarpaste, and of course a Brave cake wouldn't be complete without the three adorable little bear cubs! The name is hand cut and embossed in a style with a Celtic feel to reflect the font used in the movie title.
But it doesn't end there, inside this cake hides 7 beautiful rainbow coloured layers of lemon drizzle cake, each one separated by a light zesty buttercream filling so it tastes as good as it looks.
